Louise Jackson is passionate about beautiful artisanal products that don’t cost the planet. Originally specialising in women’s accessories produced by small scale producers around the world, Louise has always had a flair for the unusual and for seeking out local craftworkers. Over the past 10 years, Louise has built an enduring partnership with a small independent organisation in rural Bangladesh that supports women to use their traditional skills to produce beautiful items made from natural macrame jute.
The Jackson’s iconic “word bags” are now sold internationally and the range is expanding to include highly collectable table mats that further showcase the skills of the talented artisans of Bangladesh. The jute products have a low environmental footprint and their production supports the education, healthcare and livelihoods of the craftspeople in Bangladesh who have become Louise’s “extended family”. Louise is lucky to be meeting her two passions – upholding traditional knowledge and skills and protecting the planet.
